The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday said that the union home minister P Chidambaram has given them an appointment to sort out the issue of trifurcation of the civic agency.
According to the civic agency, the home minister has called the mayor Rajni Abbi, chairman of Standing committee of the MCD Yogender Chandolia, leader of the MCD House Subhash Arya and Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta among others.
"We will meet at 10pm in the BJP office and from there we will all go together to discuss the trifurcation issue. We have been demanding this for quite some time and finally we will be able to discuss the matter. We are happy that we have been finally given this opportunity," said Yogender Chandolia, chairman of the Standing Committee of the MCD.
The civic agency has been urging the union home minister to prevent MCD from being split into three smaller corporations as proposed by the Delhi government.
"We have not come across any city in the country which has three municipalities within the territorial jurisdiction of a single city," said Subhash Arya, leader of the MCD House.
