Seven bullets were fired from the SAF carbine of Inder Singh, a constable posted as a gunman in the police control room, while he was in a police vehicle in south Delhi’s Katwaria Sarai around 2:30am.

Two of the bullets hit Singh but he survived because neither punctured any of his vital organs. He is being treated at AIIMS.

The driver of the vehicle and the policeman in charge of Eagle-6 vehicle were unhurt in the incident. Senior officers said an inquiry had been ordered into the incident.

“Two of the bullets hit Singh while two others grazed past him,” said a senior police officer.
