“Investigation has not been fair as many questions have been left out unanswered and un-investigated. The testimony of Maya Devi (a victim herself) create sufficient doubt about the prosecution case,” Additional Sessions Judge JR Aryan said.

The court absolved Sydney Philip Mandis and Jai Prakash, both hailing from Dakshinpuri here, of charges of stabbing to death Satpal and injuring Maya on January 8, 2002.

The accused had entered into the house of victim Maya Devi at around 11 am at MMTC colony here and stabbed her when she refused to call her friend Kamla, a former girlfriend of one of the accused, at her place, the prosecution had alleged.
The accused also stabbed to death Satpal, a friend of Maya’s husband, at the gate of her flat when he incidentally visited the place during that day, it alleged.

The fact that no other resident of MMTC Colony joined as prosecution witness raised questions about the truthfulness of the case, it said.
