"We have ticketed 20,855 people for improper parking and 19,443 for red light jumping. We have launched this drive so that people follow traffic rules and regulate themselves," a police officer said.
"We have issued 325 tickets for drunken driving and 200 for jay walking," he added.
The number of police motorcycles has also been doubled from 210 to 420. It will have a substantial effect on reducing traffic violations, the officer said.
The police have also increased the number of police control room (PCR) vans from 50 to 100.
