This is a step to check forgery of essential documents of commercial vehicles, especially the Blueline buses. Plying without valid documents has become a major menace these days, said a source in the State Transport Authority (STA).

The transport department has taken the decision to upload the whole database following a suggestion by the Delhi Traffic Police a couple of days ago. The traffic police have reportedly asked the STA to upload the details of vehicular permits of Blueline buses, many of which are now plying with forged permits.

“We are in the process of uploading them on our website. The whole process may take a week,” said a senior STA officer.

In the past 13 days, the traffic police have impounded four Blueline buses from different areas in Delhi for plying on city roads with forged documents, including vehicle permits. Some of the drivers were also found driving without licences.

Initially, all these Blueline buses seemed to have genuine documents. However, they were found to be forged after proper inquiry, he said.

“It is indeed a tedious task as we catch buses on suspicion and send the documents to the STA for authenticity examination. It takes a long process. If the entire database is available online, we can check the documents promptly. This will not only make our task easier and smoother, but also restrain the unscrupulous owners and drivers from forging essential documents like bus permits,” Garg added.
