The Faridabad Traffic Police is toying with the idea of cancelling driving licences of those who have been challaned for drunk driving for three times, a senior traffic officer said on Monday. The step assumed significance in view of growing accident due to drunk driving.

“We have almost decided to cancel driving licences of those found driving drunk in Faridabad”, said Vikas Arora, newly appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, Faridabad.
“However, we may not do this for vehicles coming from different states and passing through Faridabad,” said Arora.
“We are planning to start cancellation of driving licences after over a week’s time from now”, he added.
“We will order of cancellation of driving licenses of drunk drivers having procured driving licenses from Faridabad.”
“About 1,800 cases of drunk driving cases were registered in Faridabad in the last six months”, said Atma Ram, Traffic Police inspector, adding that the number was just 1/5th during last year.
