Financial woes drove a 29-year-old man to commit suicide at his south Delhi home on Friday, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Friday evening, when the man, identified as Lawrence Michael was alone at his R-Block residence in Pushp Vihar, Saket.
“His widowed mother and younger brother, Bernard had left home around noon to visit his grandmother at her Kalkaji residence,” said a senior police officer.
“When they returned four hours later -- they saw Michael’s corpse dangling from the ceiling fan in his room,” added the officer.
Police said Michael owned a tour and travel business in Kalkaji. However, he had been experiencing financial difficulties of late.
Michael’s younger brother had reportedly lost his job recently and the family was having a hard time making ends meet, since even Bernard’s business was not doing well.
“According to his family members, Michael had been incurring huge losses in his business and was under a lot of debt,” said the officer.
“He decided to end his life since he could not cope with the financial pressure that he had recently been subject to,” he added.
According to police, no suicide note was found on Michael.
