A 43-year-old ex-soldier, absconding for the past one year and against whom provisions of MCOCA was slapped, was arrested in the national capital for his alleged role in land grabbing incidents, police said in New Delhi on Monday.

Narender Bhati, against whom Delhi Police had a reward of Rs 25,000, was arrested last evening by the Special Cell after investigators received a tip off that he was hiding in a house in Loni, a senior police official said.
In the past one month, two of his associates Jagbir Singh and Jaipal Singh were arrested for their alleged role in several cases of land grabbing in Swaroop Nagar and Burari, they said.
"They had spread fear psychosis and terror in the mind of people by their illegal activities. The gang has also been involved in number of sensational cases in Delhi and UP as well," the officials said.
According to the official, the gang allegedly used to prepare forged and fabricated land documents in the name of one of them and then forcibly occupied the plot.
"Later on, the matter was resolved with the concerned party after taking huge amount of money as settlement from the original land owner," officials said.
