The broadcasters group is an industry-appointed self-regulatory body that monitors news television content.

Observing that the media often does not carry out proper investigation on a story, Katju wrote: "This incident is not an isolated one, because often complaints are made in their hurry to come up with breaking news, the media, specially the broadcast media, does not do proper investigation before attacking someone's reputation." Katju has asked NBSA to enquiry into the matter and make public the findings "so that whoever is innocent is exonerated and whoever is guilty is exposed".

On Sunday, Khurshid refuted all allegations against him and his wife about misappropriation of funds by the Dr Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. Khurshid is the president of the trust and his wife is the project director.
