It will be status quo at the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after its Executive Board's decision on Friday to allow its chief Suresh Kalmadi to stay away from its activities and continue with VK Malhotra as acting president.

The board said there was no need to take any action against Kalmadi in view of the two letters he has written to Malhotra.
All it will do by way of action is to forward the correspondence to the IOC, which wants the national Olympic committee to proceed against Kalmadi as he faces corruption charges in the conduct of the 2010 CWG.
After Kalmadi was released on bail in January after spending nine months in jail, he told his supporters in the IOA that he is innocent and should not be held guilty till the courts decide the case.
The board accepted the two Kalmadi letters, in which he has stated that he would not "assert his rights and obligations" as the IOA president as he would not be able to function in that capacity for a long time.
