A Class IV student of an Municipal Corporation of Delhi run primary school died after falling into a water tank at a private construction site in Northwest Delhi.

While the police are investigating the matter, the MCD has ordered a probe into the incident.
The boy, Lalit Kumar (10), fell into the tank while returning home from his school at Kakrola in Najafgarh.
The tank was built temporarily to collect water for construction purposes.
“The police found the body of the student on Tuesday morning and are investigating into the matter ” said a senior MCD official on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
“Director (primary education) has also been asked to conduct an inquiry and submit a report at the earliest,” the official said.
The MCD official said that as per the Najafgarh Zone Deputy Commissioner’s direction, the accident site was inspected.
“On inquiry, it was found that a student of Kakrola Girl’s MCD Primary School was drowned in the pit filled with rainy water. The land
where the accident took place belongs to Delhi Development Authority. This is a big vacant land about seven to eight acres,” said the official.
The official further said that the boundary wall is broken at some places. This site is used as a storage ground to stack building materials such as stone aggregate, bitumen drums, stone dust, kerb stones.
They added the site has many undulations and pits filled with rain water .
MCD officials and teachers visited the parents and offered their condolences.
