Man stabs wife to death in fit of rage

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in front of her children near India Gate in the early hours of Thursday.

A 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in front of her children near India Gate in the early hours of Thursday.

Raj Kumar allegedly killed his wife in a rage after a dispute at the servant quarters of Jodhpur House, police said. Usha’s body bore 10 stab wounds. Their three children and a sister-in-law were witness to the incident.

Investigators said Kumar suspected Usha of having an extramarital affair and they used to quarrel about it regularly. The couple’s eldest daughter, who is 12, and the sister-in-law tried to intervene but were unsuccessful. Usha died on the spot. Kumar managed to flee.

“He suspected his wife of having an illicit relationship and stabbed her incessantly in a fit of rage. We are trying to trace him and teams have been deployed to arrest him soon,” said Shanker Dass, DCP (New Delhi).

Kumar works as a safai karmachari at the Children’s Park near India Gate while Usha worked as a domestic help. A case has been lodged at the Tilak Marg police station.

Woman found dead

An unidentified woman was allegedly raped and stoned to death in Dabri area of southwest Delhi on Thursday morning.

The woman, said to be in her mid-twenties, was partially naked and her face had been smashed with a stone lying nearby.

Morning walkers at Buddha Jayanti Park noticed the body and informed police.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigations are on. Efforts are on to identify the woman.

    Congress demands EC to launch inquiry into Tripura violence

    The Congress on Wednesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for the alleged violence in Tripura after the recently held bypolls. They also demanded that the Election Commission launch an independent inquiry into the incident. Congress spokesperson Ajoy Kumar alleged that the BJP indulges in violence every time it feels threatened by an Opposition party.     Two pose as NCB officers, try to extort money from actor Kritika Desai

    Mumbai Two men have been arrested for allegedly trying to extort money from film, television and theatre actor Kritika Desai by posing as officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau when Desai was returning from work. According to the Dindoshi police officers, the men identified as Pawan Vishwakarma, 28, and Atul Bhosle, 35, had intercepted the four-wheeler of the 53-year-old actor.
