Mayur Vihar residents to rename road in honour of Anna

The residents of at least six pockets in the area are considering the move to rechristen the stretch from Pratap Chowk passing around Una Enclave and thereabouts.

“The present name is a very old one and no political or historic significance is attached to it. We have decided to rename it after Anna to mark his historic arrest,” said CP Kaushik, general secretary, Mayur Vihar’s Federation of RWAs.

“We are also taking out rallies on the weekend to generate support for the cause,” he added.

Residents took the message of renaming the road ‘Anna Hazare Marg’ to Ramlila Ground on Thursday where organisers announced this on the stage inviting loud cheer from the crowd.

Hazare was arrested on Tuesday, August 16 from Supreme Enclave in Phase I.
