The Capital gets another medical college as the North Delhi Municipal Corporation-run Bara Hindu Rao Hospital has got the nod from the Medical Council of India (MCI) to start a college on its campus from this session.
North commissioner PK Gupta confirmed the news to Hindustan Times on Friday. “Admissions will start in this session itself. Candidates who qualify through the National Eligibility Entrance Test this year will be eligible for admission,” Gupta said.
He also said that the medical college got completed in record time and record budget.
“Last year in October we started the work on departments like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, paediatrics by upgrading the existing infrastructure. It takes at least two years to set up a medical college but we did it in months. We spent R7 crore on this project,” the commissioner said, adding the college will have 50 seats.
At present, Delhi has 600 seats in various medical colleges and another medical college will be a big boost for aspirants.
