Mercury shoots up 37 degrees in Delhi, March 23 hottest day in 7 years

The maximum temperature in Delhi was seven notches above the season’s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.4 degrees.

It was a hot day in the national capital on Thursday as the maximum temperature rose to settle at 37.4 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest day in March since the past seven years.

The maximum temperature was seven notches above the season’s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.4 degrees, a Met department official said.

“The day temperature settled at 37.4 degrees Celsius, seven notches above the season’s average, which is the hottest March day witnessed since 2010 when the day temperature was recorded at 39.2 degrees,” the official said.

Humidity level oscillated between 87 and 29 per cent.

The weatherman has predicted clear skies for Friday.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 37 and 19 degrees Celsius respectively,” the official said.

On Wednesday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 18.2 and 35.7 degrees Celsius respectively.
