Speaking to reporters after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Kerry said the “Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT) is influenced by Al Qaeda and we know in some cases there have been contacts. And we all understand that”.

Building up the pressure on Pakistan to act Kerry said the investigation of the Mumbai attacks were a real “test” for Islamabad. “We know it was all (Mumbai attacks) planned in Pakistan and we are very very confident that evidence will be presented at the right time.”

“I believe it is imperative for those camps to be shut down. I think it is imperative for LeT to be taken on, the top leaders and anybody who is implicated in this attack needs to be properly prosecuted. It seems to me that is the real measure and the test here,” he said.

“The President-Elect (Barack Obama) does not intend to create special envoy just on Kashmir,” he clarified.
