Mystery shrouds death of couple at Hudco Place flat

Investigators are still groping in the dark to lift the veil of mystery from the shocking deaths of a 43-year-old bureaucrat associated with the Indian Army and his wife, who was a classical dancer, who were found dead at their government-allotted residence in south Delhi on Friday afternoon.

While Yashkar Sinha, a deputy director with the Indian Army's Director General of Medical Supplies (DGMS), was found charred to death in the kitchen his wife Archana, who had an apparent severe head injury, was found lying flat on the floor inside the couple's bedroom.

"Their postmortem examination has been conducted but its report, in addition to the forensic analysis report, is still awaited. Nothing conclusive about the incident can be stated till these reports come through," said PK Kushwah, additional DCP (south).

Despite ruling out foul play in the incident, which was reported from their first-floor apartment at Defence Colony's Hudco Place Transit Flats, the police had curiously registered a case of murder — but had remained far from attributing this mysterious case of murder to either of the locked flat's sole occupants: Yashkar and Archana.
