New soft adventure park opens in south Delhi’s Garden of Five Senses

The adventure park has 21 activities including, rock climbing wall, zipline, Burma bridge, commando net, sumo wrestling, zorbing, air rifle shooting and archery.

“We have started with 21 activities. Another eight will be added soon. All these are done and run under the expert supervision of 25 crew members belonging to Wanderlust Adventures,” Manoj Kumar, manager, Garden of Five Senses, told HT.

Another such park in the city, Every Other Day, is located in Mayur Vihar and runs just parallel to Sanjay Lake.

“In the adventure park in Mayur Vihar, all rides are primarily of ropes and wood. But in the Garden of Five senses park you can see a lot of inflatable items like the rock climbing arena for kids and mechanical bull ride. We even have a paintball arena,” Vikram Paul, a Delhi tourism official, who is looking after the adventure park, said.

“It is a great experience. We were searching for places to visit in Delhi on the Internet and saw this place. In our country we did these things but it was a pleasant surprise to find a zipline or a paintball arena here,” the 27-year-old said.

When Garden of Five Senses opened to public in February 2003, Delhiites were awed by the beautiful rock statues, stainless steel sculptures, a serene lily pond, a solar park, a bell monument, fountains, amphitheatre and a series of well-manicured gardens with a variety of flowers. Acres of land is lined with beautiful marble sculptures and ornamental garden artefacts. However, over the years, the number of visitors have lessened.

“We are open everyday from 9 in the morning to 6 in the evening. This place has something to offer to every age group. We are hoping families will come and that is why no hardcore activity has been included,” a Delhi tourism official said.

The activities of the soft adventure park will be available for atleast the next six months. This is being done on a trial basis and if found successful and viable, can be a permanent feature here.
