Chadha is known to be popular among politically and religiously active members of his community.

"He was an undisputed arbitrator. Cases, which would linger on for years in the courts, would be settled within hours due to his involvement. There have been several instances where he (Ponty) managed to bring brothers or relatives fighting with each other on the discussion table and helped them iron out differences," said a senior Sikh leader in Delhi, who did not wish to be named.

Money, said the Sikh leader, was the main reason behind most such fights and people would listen to him and followed his advice and compromise. "It is unfortunate that he could not sort out differences over money with his own younger brother," he added

Sources said the Chadha brothers had also taken up improvement, renovation and building projects in some gurdwaras in Delhi.
