Rathore, who was in court for an in-camera trial, was attacked by a 29-year-old Utsav Sharma, a student of film production in Ahmedabad. Despite police presence around Rathore, Sharma plunged at Rathore and stabbed him in the face three times. Orginially from Varanasi, Sharma has been staying in Panchkula since a month.

Injured Rathore was rushed to hospital and was later announced out of danger.
