The teachers had shifted from the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) to General Pension Scheme (GPF) till 1998.

The university had allegedly approved this move but did not tell the teachers that the Ministry of Finance had not given the go-ahead. According to DS Agarwal, who retired from PGDAV College, many other teachers are already drawing pension under the scheme. "Why are we being left out? We served the university all our lives but are left with nothing now," he said.

"It is the fault of the university. After the implementation of the Fourth Pay Commission in 1987, the Ministry stopped the change over. Despite this, the Executive Council of the Delhi University allowed teachers to shift," said a university official who did not want to be named.
