The new month started on a soothing note in Delhi and the national capital region (NCR). Intermittent to heavy rainfall that began on Saturday night drenched the city on Sunday, accompanied by cold winds.

The Met office forecasts rain with similar weather on Monday too. The city recorded about 25.2mm of rainfall which, however, led to water-logging in some areas.

Water-logging was reported near Palla traffic signal in northwest Delhi, Govindpuri mosque and Malviya Nagar road in south Delhi, and Minto Road in central Delhi.

Traffic jams were also reported from certain parts of the city, even though it was a weekend. However, most Delhiites remained indoors and enjoyed the weather.

The rain also brought down the temperature, with the maximum temperature recorded eight degrees below normal at 19 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature settled three degrees above normal at 15.2 degrees Celsius.

Even the humidity wavered between a high and low of 100 and 60% respectively.

According to the Met office, the light rain was triggered by the western disturbances.

“The skies will remain partly cloudy on Monday too with light rain/thundershower in some parts,” said an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official.

Monday morning will also witness mist, with the maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 20 and 15 degrees Celsius. Light rain is expected in the city till Tuesday, with the temperature remaining low.
