The driver of the Scorpio suffered minor injuries in the incident that occurred around 2am near the Laxmi Nagar Metro station, police said. According to an officer, the Scorpio scrambled onto a pavement where the rickshaw pullers were asleep.
The injured were identified as Rajesh Tiwary, Daulat Ram and Nashir Ahmed. They were taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital from where the driver, Manisha Luthra, a resident of Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, and Tiwary were discharged after first aid.
The woman along with her husband Amit and two children were returning home after meeting her parents in Rajouri Garden. “The front left tyre of the car exploded and because the Scorpio was speeding, the driver lost control over the vehicle. The rickshaw pullers who were sleeping on the pavement got stuck under the vehicle and suffered injuries,” said a senior police officer.
The victims, the officer said, were rescued by local residents and were rushed to the hospital.
