Staff of power companies to get more money

Diwali has come a month in advance for about 4,000 employees of various government power companies as the Delhi government on Tuesday approved the recommendations of Wage Revision Committee for them.

The companies include Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd, Delhi Transco Ltd, Pragati Power Corporation Ltd and Delhi Power Company Ltd.

The recommendation with minor modifications were approved at the cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

The recommendations — to be implemented retrospectively with effect from January 1, 2006, — have been accepted in principle and the companies concerned would issue a detailed office order at the earliest, Dikshit said while briefing the media after the cabinet meeting.

The approved recommendations are slightly better than the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission.

The grade pay of all the pay bands will be reduced and brought on par with 6th Central Pay Commission while keeping the pay bands/scales same as recommended by the Wage Revision Committee.

The wage committee headed by Justice Lokeshwar Prasad (Retd) had submitted its report to the Delhi government on December 10, 2008.

The review committee had further examined the report regarding wage revision.
