State legal authority clears 4,000 cases

The Lok Adalat organised by Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Saturday disposed of over 4,000 cases and awarded a total compensation of R1.04 crore.

The Lok Adalat organised by Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Saturday disposed of over 4,000 cases and awarded a total compensation of R1.04 crore.

In the Lok Adalat, organised here in all six district court complexes of Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Saket, Dwarka and Rohini, 47 benches were constituted which disposed of 3,843 pending cases relating to bounced cheques, electricity bills, traffic challans, various compoundable criminal offences, matrimonial cases and others.

Besides these, 46 cases pertaining to motor accident claims were also disposed in the Lok Adalat and a compensation R1,04,51,000 was awarded.

Additionally, 194 criminal cases were disposed of by way of plea bargaining.

A total of 4,091 cases have been settled finally and there would be no further appeals in the cases disposed of today, a release issued by the DLSA said.
