Several schools have now decided to shift their winter vacation to January to protect students from the cold.

"Earlier, we used to close the school in the last week of December. But since the weather condition is the same every year, this year we have decided to remain closed from January 1-15," said Lata Vaidyanathan, principal, Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

With the biting cold throwing school schedules out of gear every year, many private schools have decided to adhere to the order issued by the Delhi government earlier this year, which had directed schools to extend their winter break to January 13.
