Panic spread after a six-year-old boy was found dead with his throat slit on the stairs of his house in Maujpur locality in northeast Delhi on Tuesday morning. The deceased, Prince Solanki alias Sonu, studied in UKG in a private school.

Police said Ravindra Solanki, the boy’s uncle, first found the body and raised an alarm. Ravindra told the police that Sonu’s father Yogendra Solanki had killed his own son.

The police found the boy’s inebriated father deep in sleep when they searched the house after getting a call at the police control room. What is confusing is that the main door of the house was locked from inside with no signs of forced entry.

Investigators want to know why Ravindra, without any concrete evidence to support his allegation, accused his elder brother for brutally murdering his own son. The neighbours contradicted Ravindra’s allegation, saying the boy’s father loved him very much and took proper care of him.

A case of murder has been registered at the Zafrabad police station. Police are questioning Yogendra, Ravindra and other members of the family. The post-mortem would be conducted on Wednesday.

“We are verifying all allegations and are questioning people related with the incident,” said VV Chaudhary, additional CP (northeast).

A senior police officer said it was Ravindra who first discovered Sonu’s body in a pool of blood on the stairs. Ravindra lives with his family on the first floor while Yogendra and his family live on the ground floor.

“Ravindra raised an alarm and made a PCR call. A police team reached there and he told them that the boy was killed by his father. Police woke up Yogendra and found him heavily drunk,” said the officer.
