Vadra speaks out: Kejriwal maligning me for publicity

Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra on Sunday refuted allegations made by activist-turned-politicians Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan over his dealings with DLF as "utterly false, entirely baseless and defamatory".

"I am a private law-abiding citizen, who has been engaged in business over the past 21 years. I am saddened by Kejriwal and Bhushan's attempt to deliberately misrepresent numbers in my financial statements, manufacture lies and malign me and my family to gain cheap publicity for the launch of their political party," Vadra said in a statement.

Kejriwal and Bhushan, however, maintained that Vadra didn't answer their questions. They also called the DLF's statement that it dealt with Vadra transparently as "half truths and lies".

"Does Vadra stand by the DLF's response or does he have another version?" Kejriwal asked on Twitter.

Vadra was accused of taking an "unsecured interest-free loan" of Rs. 65 crore from DLF to buy property worth Rs. 300 crore from the company.

Kejriwal alleged DLF made the concessions as a quid pro quo in return for favours from Congress-ruled states.
