12 colleges will test you for English

The university has introduced a Common Aptitude Test for English for this year and students applying for the 12 participating colleges will have to sit for this.

A common aptitude test will determine whether you will get admission in a course in English Honours in Delhi University this year.

The university has introduced a Common Aptitude Test for English for this year and students applying for the 12 participating colleges will have to sit for this.

“We have always maintained that CBSE or Class XII exam marks are not enough to judge a student’s aptitude for English Honours,” said Sanam Khanna, Associate Professor of English at Kamla Nehru College.

“It is a pilot test and if successful we will ask more colleges to join us next year.”

“There is no need for students to mug up anything or study. We will test basic comprehension, grammar and writing skills,” said Khanna.

The university will issue a separate booklet with instructions about the test, which is tentatively scheduled for June 17.

“The test will hold 70 per cent weightage. The rest will depend on the best of four subjects in Class XII,” said Tapan Basu, Associate professor at Hindu College.
