Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Alka Lamba, a former Delhi University Student's Union (DUSU) president, was on Monday attacked with eggs in the campus by some students, who her party's student wing alleged were from the Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India (NSUI).
The AAP MLA and several other leaders were at the Delhi University campus as the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) launched a campaign called "Selfie with MLA's" as it opened for a fresh session. The AAP's student wing has organised the selfie campaign across colleges with an eye on the DUSU polls.
As Lamba, along with AAP leaders Dilip Pandey and CYSS volunteers, was interacting with students at the Arts Faculty, some students in cars threw eggs and stones at them. Few CYSS volunteers even got injured in the incident.
The CYSS has alleged that volunteers of the NSUI were behind the attack. Interestingly, Lamba had contested on an NSUI ticket and became the DUSU president in 1995. She later joined the AAP.

{{/usCountry}}However, the NSUI dismissed the accusations levelled by the Samiti students.
Following the incident, police were called in amid a commotion in the area.
Barring the incident, the CYSS event was a great hit among students in different colleges.
At Miranda House, CYSS' Raghav Chadha was thronged by the students so that they could get a selfie clicked with him. At the south Delhi campus where Raghu Ram went, students rushed to click selfies with him.
In the morning, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal greeted the students in a tweet.
"I greet all students of Delhi University on their first day in college. Reminds of my student days some 30 years ago," Kejriwal tweeted.
