This time around, the Aam Aadmi Party’s student wing has made elaborate plans for the newcomers. The outfit plans to make its debut in the next Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections.

The party, which calls itself the Chatra-Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS), has plastered the walls of north campus with posters sporting chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s face urging students to take join for a corruption-free India.

“We had a training session for about 250 volunteers on Wednesday where they were taught to help students during the admission process,” said Amit Kumar Singh, president of CYSS. Like other student organisations, CYSS will install help desks at all the eight centres where offline registrations will be held.

Apart from volunteers, state office bearers of CYSS will be present at each of the centres to oversee the proceedings.

Pamphlets stating important dates for the admission, information about colleges have already been prepared and will be distributed among students. The group is also running a social media campaign parallelly.

They have even printed duplicate centralised OMR forms, for students to practice in before filling out the actual ones.

“In a few days time, a massive campaign will be launched targeted at increasing the membership. CYSS’s participation in the DUSU election will be formally announced later,” said Singh.

Till last year, CYSS’s presence was very conspicuous in the university. They are hopeful that continuing the win of the parent party in the Delhi election, they will also stand a fairly good chance.
