MBA is considered as one of the many lucrative career options by most graduates. In fact, a survey by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) reveals that 91% of alumni working in India believe that the degree prepared them for leadership positions. Another 88% say that a management degree improved their earning power.

Most management alumni say that managerial skills are essential if you want to be successful and competitive in the corporate sector. Says Abhishek Singh of Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, “Today the business world is one cohesive entity, where all functions come together at some point or the other. For instance, when a new product or service is launched, trained manpower from various specialisations (for instance, people in marketing, operations, supply chain management, business analysis etc) are required to give the new product an edge over its competitors. What I studied in my course had theoretically prepared me for these challenges. Therefore, it is evident that people with management specialisations are a need for businesses in today’s global order."

Amit Dutta, an alumnus of IMS Ghaziabad, agrees, “I would recommend a degree in MBA as it also boosts your promotion prospects. This is precisely why many mid-level executives opt for an MBA degree.”
