Government teachers in Morena have launched a unique campaign to tell people what government schools can offer to students.

A brainchild of primary school headmaster Umesh Pathak of Morena’s Chambal Colony, the campaign seeks to reach out to every house the pros of the government schools.
A pamphlet says only a government school provides free books and stationery to its students. Facilities like open sports ground and mid-day meal are also available only in government schools.
“In a government school, education is provided free of cost by trained and qualified teacher, while in private school, despite submitting hefty fees, untrained teachers provide education,” another pamphlet reads.
‘Lack of publicity keeping out students from even good govt schools’
According to Pathak, lack of publicity was keeping out students from even good government schools. “When a student works hard to secure admission to a government college, why is it that the same student never thinks of attending a government school?”
“I have evaluated the reasons behind the general disinterest in taking admission to government schools by holding discussions with parents and students and found that the only reason is lack of publicity about the facilities,” he said.
Before starting this campaign on June 20, the teachers associated with the campaign pooled resources – contributed by banks and teachers – to install fans and lights in several government schools.

If school administration is putting so much effort in attracting students, I am sure the education will be imparted with the same effort,” he said.
