The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday announced that Board examinations for classes X and XII will be held according to schedule from March 2, including in the violence-hit areas of northeast Delhi.
“Class X and XII CBSE exams will be held as scheduled from March 2 onwards in northeast Delhi also. The Board has filed an affidavit in the Delhi high court and the court has directed the Delhi Police and the state government to ensure the safety of all students,” CBSE PRO Rama Sharma said.
The Delhi high court has also directed the Delhi Police and government officials to provide all possible help so that the CBSE Board examinations are carried out smoothly in riot-affected areas.
On Saturday, the Directorate of Education announced that all schools in northeast Delhi will remain closed till March 7.
The authorities had ordered the closure of all schools in northeast Delhi areas on Tuesday, in the wake of violent clashes that broke out in several areas.
Earlier, the Delhi government, on its part had demanded the suspension of the board examinations in schools in the riot-hit areas.

{{/usCountry}}On Friday, the Delhi High Court asked the Delhi Police to ensure that the board examination centres in the violence-hit northeast areas of the national capital were given proper security.
A Bench of Justice Rajiv Shakdar was hearing a petition seeking a direction to change the examination centres for students undertaking Class X and XII CBSE examinations.
The court directed that “exam centres must be sanitized” and asked the police to ensure that “there is no breach of security”.
“At present, the exams scheduled from March 2 onwards will be held subject to situation on the ground,” the bench had said. The matter will once again be heard on March 4.
The CBSE told the court that letters had been sent to the National Testing Authority to ensure that the board examinations did not clash with the IIT and medical examinations.
The communal violence in northeast Delhi was triggered by protests over the amended citizenship law and has so far claimed 42 lives and left over 200 people injured.
Violent mobs torched houses, shops, vehicles, schools and a petrol pump and pelted stones at local people and police personnel. Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Babarpur, Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura were among the areas severely affected by the riots.
