Selecting a career option that suits one’s interest, aptitude and personality is one of the most challenging decisions of a student’s life. To facilitate this decision-making process, the Hindustan Times held another edition of the Career Quotient programme, featuring teachers and counsellors from various schools across Delhi and NCR, on Thursday.
Counsellors from schools such as Amity International, Gurgaon; Tagore International, East of Kailash; Lotus Valley, Noida; and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, took part in the interactive session that was aimed at briefing them about the Career Quotient test, to be administered by career counselling and testing agency YoungBuzz. The 90-minute test will help students make an informed career choice, based on a three-step module which includes online testing on aspects such as interest, aptitude and personality of a student for a given field. This will be followed by group explanations of the assessment report and individual career counselling.
“This will enable students to understand their strengths, help parents guide their children to the right career path, allow teachers to make changes in the teaching methodologies and also help principals make informed decisions about teaching choices,” said Annapoorna Sehgal, head (education), HT PACE.
Bharti Gandhi, director, YoungBuzz, said, “It’s important for the children to understand their passion before they choose a career. At times they need to be shown the suitable career path. Some students may simply need assurance and more information on the field they have opted for. The test aims at catering to all of them and avoid cases where students get into a career by default or by influence of others.”
