Entrance tests for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD courses at Delhi University have started with at least ten exams being conducted on Sunday.
The entrance tests for various courses will continue till July 23 and the results will be announced by July 4.
On Monday, the university will conduct the Joint Admission Test for admission to Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (financial investment analysis) and BA (Honours) Business Economics.
There are 991 seats on offer in the three courses, admissions to which will be based on candidate’s performance in the entrance test followed by a group discussion and personal interview. The entrance test are being conducted between 4pm-6pm.
This year, for the first time, the university is conducting entrance tests in five centres outside the capital. The move is aimed at helping outstation applicants, who may find coming to Delhi just to appear for an exam difficult.
Apart from Delhi, the tests are being conducted at Kolkata, Chennai, Jammu, Nagpur and Varanasi. “More than 2,14,000 candidates have applied for these programmes,” a DU official said.

“The paper was tricky. Even though it was objective, the questions were not direct unlike the other entrance tests I have appeared for. Here we had to use a lot of reasoning to answer the questions,” said Chandrayee Goswami, who appeared for the MA Sociology paper on Sunday.
