At Birla Institute of Management Technology's commencement day programme, Rajiv Kumar, Director and CEO, Indian Council for Research on International Research, said, "Your standards and achievements would be benchmarked against the students who pass from B-schools across the world against the backdrop of India's fast integration into the global market," he said in his address as the guest of honour. "Your potential employers have a large canvas to pick suitable candidates. They can be anywhere in the world, even for domestic enterprises."

Sounding optimistic that India's B-schools would rise to the occasion, Kumar said curricula and teaching methodologies require a new orientation to acquaint students about Indian success stories and case studies. Books and case materials prepared by hallowed business schools, such as Harvard and Wharton, have less relevance to India's business landscape. "We have to strive towards creating a compendium of Indian business stories to help students to imbibe Indian business ethos," he said adding that the "classic case of a cola war in India between Coca Cola and Campa Cola would be instructive to gauge the power of branding and aggressive marketing of the foreign companies and pitfalls in these departments of the Indian counterparts."

Delivering the commencement day oration, Santrupt Misra, Group Head (HR) & Global Head, Carbon Black Business, Aditya Birla Group, asked the enrolees to break the shackles of contemporary wisdom by questioning paradigms and theories before absorbing them. "Your quest for knowledge can be fulfilled only by throwing posers to every single theory that has been explained to you and case study that has been rolled out as trailblazers to success," he added.

Among others, 375 freshers from 20 states, having multi-disciplinary educational and cultural backgrounds took part in the event.
