Addressing a meeting of hostel owners and representatives of various engineering and medical coaching institutes, the collector said, “Students studying in such institutes come under mental pressure due to tight competition and study pressure. In view of this, guidelines will be issued for the institutes.”

At least 19 students taking coaching classes for various competitions committed suicide in Kota last year.

A majority of these deaths were attributed to stress and performance pressure. Following this, the Kota district administration and coaching institutes have taken a slew of measures to provide better learning environment to students and keep them de-stressed.

The Jaipur collector said if a student wishes to leave a coaching institute before completing his course, then the rest amount will be refunded. The institute has to be transparent on fees charged from the students, he said.

Kunal said coaching institutes need to conduct counselling of students before giving them admissions, so that they can assess them and inform their parents.

He said the owners of institutes and hostels will personally inspect and monitor food and other facilities provided to students and ensure they do not face any problem.

Earlier this month, the Rajasthan high court had asked the Jaipur development authority and municipal corporation to order the removal of 118 illegal coaching centres in Lal Kothi area by March 31.
