Maharashtra’s Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) on Wednesday evening released the first seat allotment list for admission of 85,520 interested candidates in the first round. There are 1.31 lakh seats in 360 engineering institutes in the state.
Students can log on www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in to check the provisional engineering seat allotment status.
If a student’s name has appeared in the list, s/he can directly report to the institute to pay the fees and confirm their admission.
“Students whose names have appeared in the first list can confirm their admission with their respective institutes over the next five days,” a DTE official says. According to the final list of registrations that was recorded two weeks ago, close to 1.19 lakh students had opted to participate in the state common admission process (CAP) round even though 2.84 lakh students had cleared the state Common Entrance Test (CET) in early June.
Experts attributed this fall on better performance of students in all India entrance tests like Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) this year.
One of the highlights this year is that the number of students from outside Maharashtra registering for the All India quota seats in private institutes had increased. However, barely 6,465 students finally registered in the process. “2,458 students from outside the state have managed to bag seats in the first allotment round, which is about 3% of the total lot. This trend stays similar to last year,” added the official.
