As the fifth semester exams are set to start from Tuesday (November 29), many third-year law students from colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai (MU) are yet to receive their hall-tickets.
HT had earlier reported on colleges not able to upload the student's academic records because of the technical glitch in the MU portal.
Colleges said they are trying to upload data for the last 25 days, but due to technical glitches, are unable to proceed further. For three years, law colleges conduct exams for semester 1 to 4 and upload all data on the university portal, which is maintained by MKCL.
"This is due to a misunderstanding between MU and college officials as a result of the pain these students must endure. It's shameful that students have to worry about their hall tickets at the last minute while studying," said Adv. Dhanajay Junnarkar, spokesperson for the Mumbai Congress. “I wrote a letter to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde about this and asked to suspend responsible officials,” he added.
On Friday, MU issued an official response to the law exam, stating, "Semester 5 exams of law colleges begin on November 29. The admit cards for the said examination have been issued as of November 23. The hall tickets for the said examination have been issued as of November 23. The process of issuing the hall ticket to students is currently underway due to some colleges failing to fill out the data of the students on time. The university's server is not down, but the winter session exams have started since November 4, and hall tickets have been made available to more than 1 lakh students till date. All the students will be given the admit cards for the examination, which will also be conducted on the scheduled date."
