City students cleared the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 exams, results for which were declared on Thursday, with flying colours, with some scoring above 90% and many scoring a perfect 100 in some tests.

Chennai region, which includes schools in Maharashtra, recorded a 92.93% pass percentage, standing second among all regions after Trivandrum (98.20%). The region had a total of 82,719 students appearing for the examinations this year, of which 76,873 cleared the exams. A total of 399 children with special needs took the exams from the region, of which 384 students cleared it.
While none of the students from the city made it to the list of national toppers, most schools recorded a 100% pass percentage. “This time, students have scored really well and the scores seem to have improved from last year. Only in mathematics, scores seem to have gone down a bit. Otherwise, it seems like a good result,” said Seema Maindiratta, principal, DAV public school, Kharghar. More than 89% students in the school have passed the exam with a distinction.
At Delhi Public School Nerul, 64 students scored 95% and above. Shifa Thokan, who pursued humanities at the school, scored 98.2%. All students from the school scored a first class. “Students have scored very well because we worked on bettering our teachers and making parents more aware over the past few years. We have a class average of 89.7%, which is a very good score. We are happy that students have done so well,” said J Mohanty, principal, DPS Nerul.
