Students pursuing the Bachelors in Mass Media (BMM) course from the University of Mumbai (MU), have raised questions on the assessment of their Semester 5 answer sheets. Students and colleges said that their top-scorers received only average marks in the semester 5 papers.
“Most of us were happy with the way our exams went. So the result came as a complete shock. Our class topper has been awarded ‘A’ or ‘A+’ in four subjects and only minimum pass marks in the remaining two subjects. How is this possible?” one of the students questioned.
The students had given their Semester 5 exams in November. The results were announced earlier this month. With Semester 6 exams scheduled to begin in three weeks, students are worried about the fact that they would have to submit their papers for revaluation. “We will not receive re-evaluation results for the next three months. So this entire exercise of revaluation is useless,” said another student.
MU officials said they have started receiving re-evaluation applications, but have not received any complaint. “If there are any concerns, we will look into them,” said Vinod Malale, deputy registrar (public relations) of MU.
