NEET today, Supreme Court declines plea to stop exam

The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to entertain a plea made by some students to stop the common entrance test – NEET – for medical colleges to be held on Sunday.

The Supreme Court on Saturday refused to entertain a plea made by some students to stop the common entrance test – NEET – for medical colleges to be held on Sunday.

On April 28, a bench headed by Justice AR Dave ordered holding of NEET on May 1 and July 24.

A bench headed by chief justice TS Thakur said the matter was under consideration by a different judge and that he would not modify the order directing the Centre to hold the test in two phases. On April 28, a bench headed by Justice AR Dave ordered holding of NEET on May 1 and July 24.

“Nothing will happen in the meantime. Please allow the examination to be conducted,” the court told the students’ lawyers. The three-judge bench had assembled on a holiday to hear the case related to Delhi’s air pollution.

Justice Dave’s bench had on Friday rejected the Centre’s request to reconsider its day-old order on NEET. Centre wanted the governments and private colleges to hold separate entrance examinations for MBBS and BDS courses for 2016-17.
