It was a full house at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan’s Usha & Lakshmi Mittal Institute of Management (BULMIM), New Delhi, on Saturday as aspirants got together to attend a series of informative sessions by experts on how to prepare for the Common Admission Test (CAT). The sessions were part of Mission MBA — a series organised by HT Education, in association with MBAUniverse.com, from September 2011 to February 2012.
From advice on the dos and don’ts before and after the test to tips on solving intensive mock tests, the session helped MBA hopefuls inch closer to their dream of acing one of the biggest entrance exams in the country.
The sessions started with talks by toppers who shared their test taking experiences and life in a B-school. The speakers included Ankur Jain and Rahul Pinnamaneni of MDI Gurgaon. This was followed by another interactive session featuring Sudhir Jain, HoD, Department of Management Studies at IIT-Delhi. Jain spoke about what an MBA teaches you and what do top B-schools look for in prospective students.
Giving some valuable advice to the audience, Jain said: “You must have great presence of mind when you take an entrance test. Preparation contributes only 50% to your success in getting admission to a top B-school. Rest is determined by what you are, your personality and intelligence put together.”
The most awaited session of the day was conducted by CAT guru and author Arun Sharma who guided the students on how to make best of the next few days. “The focus in the last 30 days should be on how to improve your scores. Divide your time for preparation and have a special strategy for the last one week before the test,” he said.

Most students found the sessions useful. “Tips such as being self-motivated and identifying my flaws will come in handy,” says Anish Badhwar, a final-year student of Delhi Technical University.
