UPSC Combined Defence Services exam: last date to apply is August 12

The national-level exam is conducted twice a year

The deadline for submitting applications for the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Combined Defence Services II, 2016 is August 12. The exam will be conducted on October 23. It is a national-level examination conducted by UPSC for Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy (OTA). The exam is conducted twice a year. Women candidates are considered only for the Short Service Commission at OTA.

Candidates can click here to apply. For IMA and Officers’ Training Academy, a degree from a recognised university or equivalent is must. For Indian Naval Academy, a degree in engineering from a recognised university/institution is needed. For Air Force Academy, a degree of a recognised university (with physics and math at 10+2 level) or bachelor of engineering is must. Candidates must note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers in the objective type question papers.

The Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, has 150 vacancies for its 143rd course beginning July 2017. This includes 19 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders. The Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala has 45 vacancies for its course commencing July 2017, in the Executive (General Service) including six vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (Naval Wing). The Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, is offering (pre-flying) 32 vacancies for its training course commencing July 2017. Chennai’s Officers’ Training Academy is offering 175 vacancies for its SSC course (for men) starting October 2017 and 11 for SSC women (non-technical) course starting October 2017.
