Kerala Congress (Jacob)'s Anoop Jacob got a total of 73,770 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s M.J.Jacob secured 67,575 votes. Bharath Dharma Jana Sena's candidate C.P.Sathyan grabbed the third spot with 17,503 votes. The top three parties got 46.0%, 42.2% and 10.9% respectively.
In Kerala Assembly election 2011, Kerala Congress (Jacob)'s T. M. Jacob beat Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s M.J.Jacob by 157 votes.
