Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Tamiliasi Soundrarajan.Dr grabbed the third spot with 19,167 votes. The top three parties got 39.4%, 38.0% and 11.4% respectively.
In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's Partha Sarathy B defeated Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Thanasekaran K by 14,094 votes.
