It’s IPL time again and the entire nation is caught up in the excitement. Who do I support? That’s tough to choose, especially since I know many of the team owners personally!
If it’s a case of loyalty, then it has to be Bangalore all the way. I am, after all, a Bangalore girl! But then again, Mumbai has been my home for the last 15 years, so shouldn’t that matter? Then, my choice would have to be the Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, Shah Rukh is a dear colleague and I love the spirit and enthusiasm that he instills in his team, and honestly, quite like the Kolkata Knight Riders, and therefore they are quite high up on my list too. I’ve always been one for the under-dog though I think this time that team would be the Kings XI Punjab! So, it’s a tough choice but I’ve got to make one. So I’ve decided…. I’m going with the Deccan Chargers. Just kidding!
Whoever wins, I think the IPL is a fantastic thing to have happened to the cricketing world. Now, if they’d only air it in the US, where I have been since the last week, it would be perfect. Indians and cricket are synonymous. Everyone knows Sachin Tendulkar! I remember sitting beside a top Yankees baseball player (no, not Derek Jeter) at a dinner a couple of years ago who wanted to know what a “googly” was. I spent the entire evening explaining the term to him. I sincerely hope the dear man got it and I didn’t leave him with a whole new definition...

I have never been to an IPL match, so SRK, Preity, if you read this, do invite me! For all those who ask me if I will ever buy an IPL team, “never say never” is what I say...
