The recent Supreme Court verdict that deems homosexuality illegal is pointless, according to actor Kangana Ranaut, who is known to speak her mind. While many celebrities have expressed their opinions on the issue, Kangana elaborates that at this rate, every citizen will be a criminal.

She says, “It’s so funny that they’ve called homosexuality a crime. What’s so wrong or criminal about it? I mean, first they make oral sex illegal, now homosexuality. At this rate, everyone will be a criminal.” Making a comment in jest on the issue, she jokes, “Being behind closed doors will be so much fun now.”

On a more serious note, Kangana feels that it’s time our judicial system takes note of things that actually need attention. She says, “They have all the time to dwell over something like this, which is not even an issue. They should first go deal with real problems such as rape.”

Amitabh Bachchan has always been very upfront when it comes to his views on social issues. The Supreme Court ruling stirred him no less, and the actor has strongly put forth his view that every individual should have the right to live freely.

“High Court in 2009 gave pro judgement on homosexuality. All rejoiced, came out, got known. Now they fear being identified as criminals,” the 71-year-old had posted on Twitter, soon after the judgment.

On being asked to elaborate, the actor, who was recently in the Capital, said, “Well, I think it eats into the freedom of an individual, eats into the very concept of democracy and our Constitution. Every individual should have the right to live freely.”
