Just back from a grueling tour of Russia and Dubai… It was a long overseas stint and thankfully, I am now back in Mumbai.

My Russian sojourn was a memorable one. I was completely awestruck by Moscow and St. Petersburg and I almost behaved like a child lost in a candy store. The most exciting tour had to be my visit to the Yusupov Palace, the monument where Grigory Rasputin was murdered.

From Moscow I reached Dubai by 1.30 am and was just channel surfing after freshening up when the most unexpected news flashed on CNN... the King of Pop Michael Jackson was no more.

As reporters said the news was “unconfirmed” I was hopeful, but then it began to sink in — Michael Jackson was truly no more. As minutes turned into hours that night I reminisced the crowning years of MJ — 1983, the era when the whole world was struck by the Thriller thrill…

His hair, his clothes, his shoes everything about him was replicated and every Tom-Dick & Harry was minting from the Jackson mania.

I was no different, even I made sunshine from the Jackson mania. Those days I used to have a video parlor (flashback mode!!!!) and Thriller’s video was such a craze that I would hoard up 6 copies at a time and they sell like hot cakes. This was the one cassette that was booked for 365 days during those years.
